I grew up in Enid and had fond memories of the grandfather taking our family out to eat at the Tia Juana on Sunday after church, which all come back to me on my most recent trip back to Enid. Understand, this was not my first trip back to Enid (it has been over 35 years since I moved away), actually I have been back over 20 times; however, this is my first time back to the Tia Juana.
Yes, the Tia Juana is still there. It has been in the same location since 1948 and still based on outward appearance looks like a dive. This is where looks can be deceiving.
My wife and I decided to try the Tia Juana (it was here first trip) after all this time to see if it was as good as I rememered. We went for lunch and had the chicken fried steak. Simply put, this is one of the best chicken fried steak we have ever eaten. We were telling her father about the Tia Juana and he asked if we wanted to go back and try the real steak. That night we ordered three medium sized T-Bones for about $18.00 per person. We all agreed that this was definitely the best steak in Enid and as far as that goes in Oklahoma. The steak was very tender and was had excellent taste. We will definitely go back to the Tia Juana on our next trip back to Enid. I can’t wait.
